SearchPerfect
- Search the Web, Find E-Mail Addresses, Look for Recipes -- Easily and
Organized
|
| SearchPerfect allows you to search the Internet or search the
Web for different things. SearchPerfect finds the data using the various search
engines you are probably used to using. If you want particular things returned
to you as e-mail results, SearchPerfect will gather the information and then,
after finding the things you are looking for, send you the results. You can
choose how you want the data returned to you. For instance, if you want the
data in Microsoft Access database format, Learn then Play will gather the
things you're looking for and return the information to you in that format. You
can have data returned in Microsoft Access database format, as a 'delimited'
text file, in HTML report style format or as a giant blob.

How
Does it Work?
|
| First, you select how you want the data to be returned to you.
You do this using the options on the left side of the page. Next, you select
what type of data you want to find. You can choose from a number of different
categories. You can choose up to three types of things to find in each search.
Next, you tell SearchPerfect anything you want to exclude from the results.
Finally, you provide an email address where SearchPerfect will send the results
to you. It takes SearchPerfect a while to look for the things you want to find
and to organize that information. Finally, you type what you want to search for
into the search box and press the Search button.

What
Happens After I Press the Search Button?
|
| SearchPerfect is not its own search engine. It uses popular
search engines to look for the things you tell it to find. It would not be fair
for SearchPerfect to gather the search information, use that data and bypass
the search engines. So, when you press the search button you will be taken to
the search engine's result page(s). It is just like doing a regular search.
Since one of your options on the left side of the SearchPerfect page is to
select which search engine to use, you will be taken to that engine's results.
This helps you because you can get an idea of what results SearchPerfect is
going to be looking through to find the information you've requested.

How
Can I Improve my Results?
|
| It is very important for you to look through the 'raw' results
returned by the search engine after you press the Search button. You should
look through the various pages to make sure that the result pages represent the
kinds of Websites and resources you expected to look through for the type data
that you are having SearchPerfect return to you. SearchPerfect will look only
through the first 100 results (if 100 or more results are found) that the
Search Engine finds. SearchPerfect will look through 'advertising' links as
well as through the standard results the engine returns. For this reason, it is
important that you review those results -- even go into the various result
pages -- to make sure the quality of data that will be returned to you meets
your expectations. The BEST way to get GOOD results from SearchPerfect is to
'tune' your search request and to include some of the optional search criteria.
By formulating a good set of search requirements, you'll end up getting the
best results. NOTE: When we return the results to you by e-mail, the original
source where each piece of data was found will be included for your reference.

What
if the Search Engine Results are NOT what I Expected?
|
| Let's say you start a search after selecting the type of
database and information that you're looking for. When you press the Search
button, the Search Engine returns results that really don't take you to the
types of sites you were thinking you'd get. You'll notice that before your
search begins -- right after you press the search button -- you have to type
some letters and numbers to verify you are really a person. When you type this
information, SearchPerfect provides you with a 'Search ID' number. If you have
searches that are 'in progress', you'll also see these ID numbers the next time
you visit the main SearchPerfect page. If the results you get and peruse
through on the Search Engine are NOT the results you expected, simply return to
SearchPerfect and press the 'Cancel Pending Search' link.

Why
do I have to Provide an E-Mail Address and Type Those Wierd Numbers and
Letters?
|
| It can take SearchPerfect up to thirty minutes - maybe more in
some cases - to organize and compile the results you've requested. For this
reason, SearchPerfect e-mails the results to you so that SearchPerfect
can complete its work while you keep working or surfing the Web. Next, there
are a number of 'robots' or computer programs that people sometimes use to
trick Websites like SearchPerfect into performing lots of searches
automatically. Sometimes, these programs are setup to cause problems for tools
like SearchPerfect and sometimes they are setup to gather large amounts of data
on an automated basis. These kinds of programs or 'robots' have a hard time
reading things that are designed for a human to read. Now, some of them are
pretty smart and can convert these human readable things and actually figure
out what letters and numbers to send back to tools like SearchPerfect. To
prevent this, these letters and numbers are skewed to make it pretty hard for
anything other than a real person to read them.

| Donate
to Keep SearchPerfect Available
|
|
| We hope SearchPerfect is a valuable tool for you! Please don't
overuse the program and, if you find it useful, consider donating to
SearchPerfect using the donation button on our main page. We'd like to keep
SearchPerfect available! Also, the Search Engines are businesses as well so
please take the time to review your results when the search engine pages are
shown. Make sure that you look through those results -- whether sponsored
adverts or regular links - to make sure you're getting to the kinds of
resources that will contain what you're looking for. If not, please take the
time to cancel your SearchPerfect 'background' request. Thanks. Matt Pappas
